Description

Embark on an unforgettable journey through the heart of the Khmer Empire with our immersive three-day Angkor temple tour. Explore iconic landmarks, hidden gems, and experience the rich history and breathtaking architecture of this ancient civilization.

Day 1: Exploring the Grandeur of Angkor

Your adventure begins after breakfast, with your guide meeting you at your hotel. Prepare to be mesmerized as you first encounter the magnificent Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world, built in the 12th century. Marvel at its intricate carvings and towering structures, a testament to the Khmer Empire’s architectural prowess.

Next, journey to the enchanting Ta Prohm Temple, nestled within the embrace of giant tree roots. This atmospheric temple, famously featured in the “Tomb Raider” movie, offers a unique glimpse into the power of nature and the passage of time.

After a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, we venture off the beaten path to the serene Ta Nei Temple. This less-restored temple, surrounded by lush vegetation, offers a tranquil escape from the crowds.

In the afternoon, we explore the magnificent city of Angkor Thom. The highlight is the Bayon Temple, a masterpiece of Khmer architecture with its iconic towers adorned with hundreds of smiling faces. We’ll also visit the Baphuon Temple, a massive pyramidal structure, and the Royal Enclosure, including the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King.

As the day comes to a close, we ascend Phnom Bakheng for a breathtaking sunset view over the Angkor landscape. Please note that due to popularity, we may need to arrive earlier to secure a good viewing spot. After sunset, we’ll return to your hotel, arriving around 6:00-6:30 pm.

Day 2: Rivers of Gods and Pink Temples

Rise early (5:00 am) to witness the awe-inspiring sunrise at Angkor Wat, a truly magical experience. After this unforgettable spectacle, we journey north for about an hour to Kbal Spean, the “River of a Thousand Lingas.” A scenic trek through the jungle will lead you to the riverbed, where you’ll discover ancient carvings of gods and lingas, symbols of divine power.

Next, we visit the exquisite Banteay Srei, the “Citadel of the Women.” This stunning temple, built from pink sandstone, is renowned for its intricate carvings and delicate details.

After lunch, we explore the rarely visited Banteay Samre, a 12th-century Hindu temple believed to be modeled after Angkor Wat. We then ascend the multi-tiered Pre Rup Temple, offering panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Finally, we visit the Banteay Kdei Temple, a Buddhist complex dating back to the 12th century.

Day 3: The Grand Circuit and Local Life

On the final day of your adventure, we explore the “Grand Circuit,” starting with the impressive Preah Khan Temple, a vast monastic complex dedicated to King Jayavarman VII’s father. We then visit Neak Poan, a unique island temple located in the center of a large baray (reservoir), and the nearby Ta Som Temple, a small but classic example of Khmer architecture. Our journey continues to East Mebon, a majestic temple-mountain with five towers.

After lunch, we delve into the history of the Roluos Group, visiting the early Khmer temples of Lolei, Preah Ko, and Bakong, the former capital of Hariharalaya.

On the way back to Siem Reap, we’ll experience local life with visits to the Phsa Leur Market, the Old Market (Phsar Chas), and Artisan d’Angkor, where you can witness traditional crafts like stone carving, wood carving, and silk processing. If you prefer not to visit the markets, we’ll return directly to your hotel.
